Bay of Loreto National Park

The creation of the Bay of Loreto National Park in July 1996 was a huge step toward preserving the delicate marine environment surrounding the islands of Loreto. With the help of several international conservation groups like Sea Watch and the local Mexican non-profit Eco-Alianza de Loreto A.C., the BLF assists in monitoring and an enforcement system designed to control illegal fishing as well support the existing park programs and staff requirements. The BLF founders recognize that it is of utmost importance to fund community education programs to illuminate the importance of maintaining healthy marine populations around Loreto and to provide support for the local initiatives created to manage, protect and preserve this essential ecosystem.
