Public charities (non-profit organizations) incorporated in Canada, Mexico or the USA may apply to the BLF for funding. If the applicant is not an established public charity (a 501c3 in the US, or an Asociación Civil in Mexico), the project will need a “Fiscal Sponsor”. A Fiscal Sponsorship is a legal mechanism by which an established public charity provides financial and administrative assistance to selected projects. A Fiscal Sponsorship allows the project to solicit tax-deductible contributions from individuals, foundations, corporations or governmental organizations.
